After 12 years in small animal private practice, we founded VetCareComplete, Inc. to serve a desperate need in the pet care profession.
As veterinarians, our biggest frustration has always been providing less than ideal diagnostics and treatment for our patients due to the financial constraints of pet owners. Frequently, these owners also decline referral to specialists, denying themselves access to life-saving advances in medicine and surgery.
The most upsetting example of this has been termed ‘economic euthanasia,’ the point at
which clients must choose to euthanize their animals due to an inability to afford treatment. As practicing veterinarians, we deal with this reality on an almost daily basis.
The veterinary pet insurance industry has, up until now, been a disappointment to both clients and veterinarians alike. In most cases, the current policies offer incomplete coverage and reimbursement, resulting in negative client experiences and equally negative perceptions by their veterinarians.
We seek to improve upon every aspect of current pet insurance programs and in doing so, have created VetCareComplete, Inc. – veterinary pet insurance that is truly designed from a veterinarian’s perspective.
Meet the VetCareComplete founding partners
Keith Taylor, DVM
Dr. Taylor has been involved in veterinary medicine ever since he was in high school. He took his first part time job as a veterinary assistant in 10th grade and worked full time during the summers. It was these experiences that solidified his desire to one day become a veterinarian. After graduating from the University of Virginia with a BA in Biology, he moved one step closer to making his dream a reality when he enrolled as a student at the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at the Virginia Tech Blacksburg Campus. Dr. Taylor graduated from veterinary school in 1996 and took a job at a small animal clinic in Waldorf, Maryland. He has remained at that clinic his entire professional career and at this point, rarely has a day that is not filled with request appointments. Working as a small animal clinician has given Dr. Taylor a unique perspective on the veterinary pet insurance industry. Using this experience in private practice, he has helped to develop a superior insurance product that is truly designed from a veterinarian’s perspective.
A.J. Ereio, DVM
Dr. AJ Ereio, has always had dogs and cats in his family. From a young age, Dr. Ereio planned on a medical career – becoming a veterinarian fulfilled this dream. He placed out of chemistry and biology prerequisites for veterinary school due to credits earned in high school. Because of this, he had the freedom to gain a theology degree from the University of Virginia in 1992. He met Dr. Keith Taylor at UVA in an animal physiology class and they both later graduated from veterinary school in 1996 alongside each other as best friends. Dr. Ereio has worked in various clinics as an associate doctor, gaining valuable experience and meeting a wide range of clientele and their pets. These experiences have made Dr. Ereio uniquely suited to start a pet insurance company with a veterinary perspective.
